Website Hosting with Media Temple
Submitted by Jack on Mon, 12/29/2008 - 15:12I was using a website today and saw this image...
I'm not going to name and shame the company the site was with, but this is precisely why good hosting is KEY for sites trying to build an online community.
Fortunately, I use a Grid Service from Media Temple. Grid Service (gs) is a cluster-based hosting service powered by hundreds of servers working in tandem to power the website and to easily handle traffic spikes etc.
HTML emails that don't break... a few things to think about.
Submitted by Jack on Tue, 11/25/2008 - 15:25I've been working on sending out a mass HTML email to my family and friends this week. I recently got engaged and we are trying to send out our "Save the Date" by email.
I'm pretty good with CSS and HTML so I thought that making a sexy looking email would be the easiest thing ever. Unfortunately I've learnt that different email clients handle HTML and CSS completely differently! BOO!!
- Microsoft Outlook is generally fine for all versions up to and including 2003 and Microsoft Entourage (MAC) works great in my opinion.
Drupal Search Engine Optimization (A Second Look)
Submitted by Jack on Mon, 11/17/2008 - 18:02I've decided to post an update to my previous blog... Drupal Search Engine Optimization (a first attempt).
I've actually been doing quite well with Search Engine Optimization. Drupal seems to do a lot of the hard work for you... not all... but a lot.
SpiritLedMusic.com - Artist Website for Nicole Smith
Submitted by Jack on Mon, 11/03/2008 - 14:11I've gotten the "go ahead" to start working on an "Artist Site" for Nicole Smith. Nicole is one of the Worship Leader's at Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship.
The site will include space for tracking events, blogging, selling her CD's, MP3 Downloads and Nifty Photo Gallery. One of my "Graphics Guys" is working on some concepts now... I'll upload a pic once we have decided on a concept.
How To Update a Drupal website without messing it up
Submitted by Jack on Sat, 10/25/2008 - 15:08This is a quick "how to" on updating a Drupal website however... before continuing I would like to say a few things.
I've been thoroughly converted to Drupal this year. I love how it's put together and how there is basically a module for EVERYTHING I've ever wanted to use.
Since "being converted" I've taken on a few jobs designing sites in Drupal and more recently doing Web Admin stuff for an online church community (Junction J).
