Project Management - How I like it
I've gotten frustrated with software and web apps recently. I've been trying to find a solution for myself to effectively manage clients, projects, tasks and finance. I'm starting a company this year and I want something that will scale well and last the test of time.
So after a frustrating day of trying to track down old documents and .txt files(! to start invoicing for hosting and domains !) I decided "enough was enough". I'm going to put in the work now and build my own custom made web app... to track absolutely everything I want and nothing that I don't want.
I've attached a screen shot... I haven't got very far but here's the plan/feature list.
- I want to have all my customers contact details in one place and I want to sync it with my iPhone.
- I want to create projects with quotes and deadlines
- I want tasks inside the projects that I can use as a to do list, set a billing rate and have it create an invoice for me at the end.
- I want to set up recurring invoicing for hosting and domains
- I want to be able assign tasks to a contractor (e.g. concept design ) and have their costs come out of the quote/budget
- I want to see, with one click, how much money I have brought in each month and so far this year
What do you think? Am I missing anything that will be important?
